Dinner @ Xing Wang

Met up with polymates last night to have dinner @ Cineleisure. It's been very long since we last gathered which is like almost 2 years. Feels like we're back to poly times..haha..

The above pic is what i've ordered..Dry Seafood Hor Fun..It's really alot lor, i can't finish it but lucky Adam helped me clear some..maybe he's still hungry after eating his baked rice..the hor fun is quite value for money..After the dinner, we talked about alot of stuffs..about studies and work..

I realise most ppl after their NS, they're lost..in terms of which path to take..usually i'll tell them, if they don't know what to do, and parents are able to support your further studies..GO TO STUDY!! Get a degree then say..this path confirm no wrong..

Most of my friends, including myself are interested in taking Business course..and i believe this is a good choice. And also not forgetting about Finance, this is a good one too..SIM now offers a new course 'Human Resource Management' this falls under business too and this will be a very good degree as HR market is booming..

I want to study but money is the main concern which kept me off. How i wish i could take up study with no worries on school fees..

Being independent is hard but once you have overcome it, a newborn yourself will appear.

Sushi-Tei @ Raffles City

Ly has a sudden urge to eat sushi, then decided to eat at this outlet. I like their design of wooden path and the lightings by the side :) it's unique and can hardly find this type in shopping centres.

Went in and saw some queues, thought the queue can clear very fast. Indeed very fast, bcos manager is taking down the names and contacts of the customers and will inform them once the seats are available =.= Waited for 45mins for the seats to be ready. Waited for 45mins at least give us a better seats please and not the seat infront of the chefs, i don't need to see them cooking ler..but at that point of time didn't think that much as 2 hungry ppl are dying..

Ordered quite alot of food, main dishes like cold noodles and japanese curry rice. Side dishes like chawanmushi, sashimi, temaki, and some random sushies which i forgot the names. Quite disappointed in their curry rice as it taste totally like maggi-mee..i reckon maggi mee curry is better =.= Ly ordered the cold noodles with mixed ingredients(like chinese wedding, first dish is called Leng Pan), quite nice actually in terms of looks and taste :)

Overall like the food and maybe the ambience if we are given better seats..haha..

There's more Japanese Restaurants i have yet to explore. Like Hanabi near CHIJMES and 2 other restaurants in Cuppage Plaza. Who's interested?

Blogging

It's been 2 months since my last post. Probably ran out of ideas and stuffs to blog about. Just got myself a job at Jurong International Business Park, quite a nice environment to work in. It's a Norwegian company, and they are really nice people. At first, thought i might have some communication problems with the Norwegians because of their accent, surprisingly their accent isn't that strong :)

Every job, starting is always the same..BORING..but time flies fast, tick tock and it's time to go home. Maybe i should start a habit of updating my blog whenever i'm free.

Next i'll update on my trip to Genting Highlands and dinner at Sushi-Tei Raffles City.

Another Day

Yesterday went to a coffee place near California Fitness in Somerset. Order their Cafe Mocha, it's really quite nice..guess i got addicted in drinking coffee in Manila :(

Question: Why i got addicted in drinking coffee?
Answer: Our dear Nicholas(蛇王), always asked me out to snake during office hour, and hang out @ Starbucks or a Cheesecake house drinking coffee..that's why..

After enjoying the coffee and played some games @ Cineleisure, sat down outside the building. I actually enjoyed looking at the people around, looked how they dressed and present themselves. Saw a couple, the guy was wearing very 'Lok' and the ger dressed up well, is this the trend? Can't really stand that when the ger put in effort in dressing up and the guy don't..

Yeah it's dinner time, had Japanese food at Cuppage Plaza..called '饺子王将' if i'm not wrong.. their Japanese Curry Rice is really nice and cheap, just $8/$9 for it..and their pan-fried Gyoza is nice too..didn't manage to take photo of those cos i'm too hungry to think of that lol..i'll recommend eating there cos it's really worth it..

As suggested by my friend, we went to Plasma, a ktv pub near Parklane..had a drink and chilling..manage to know some new friends through the 'Queen of pub' haha..she's the boss of the pub :)

That's how the day ends...kinda boring eh.. sobx..hope to have some things or people that will light up my life...

Back to Singapore

Finally i'm back to Singapore on 8th March 2008. Left the company due to quite alot of reasons..i better dont list out if not all will be sleeping back there..

Been in Manila 3 months, not too long and not too short, exposed and learnt alot during this trip..in terms of life and work, they're totally different from what i see or learnt in Singapore..

I shall talk on my colleagues..
Nicholas(烂人一个）- This particular guy talks alot of meaningful things to me and my other colleagues, which i totally agreed on what he said cos he's been through all these..when he's eating snake, will MIA at least 1hr lol, sometimes my boss also bey tahan..really glad that i came to know this person..he can really talk alot..imagine both of us sitting @ starbucks for 6hrs of chatting!!

Henky(Prince of Ayala) - Ayala is the condo i stayed in and well he's the prince..not sure how he got the title but he got it before i'm there haha..he's shortest among us, another slacker, everyday ask me out to smoke cos smoking is his only way to eat snake..and I DONT SMOKE!! he still ask me every now and then =.= then i became passive smoker duh..if i die young, please blame him..lol

Daniel(大牛) - Quite obvious how he got this nickname haha..he's a nice guy, my roommate who joined later than me..the only guy that i shared most of my stories with..he too has shared alot with me too..after he heard that i'm leaving, he thought of quitting too but somehow i persuaded him to stay and gave him as much support as possible..

That's a short summary on my 3 colleagues..

Manila Day 5

Smooth sailing day for me and getting more comfortable with my job. I like my team a lot as all of us are so united, you help me I help you, that’s what I say teamwork.

Yesterday went out with my Department boss and Company boss to have a drink. At first I didn’t know he’s the boss, I feel so paiseh cos got 1 time he opened the car door for me. He’s a friendly guy and took good care of us.

Finally found out how the hacker attacks us. He’s using SQL Injection, to edit the account information, deposit money that doesn’t even exist!! Besides using SQL Injection, he’s using Hex coding to encode his language to hide itself J clever eh.

What a tiring day…night all..

Manila Day 4

Today had a good experience @ work. One unknown person sent a warning email saying they going to attack us. Minutes after, the hackers did the ATTACK!! They used an attack called DDOS, it’s a hacking technique that can bring the servers down L Luckily, our systems are able to handle the flooding connections, the attack holds for 1hr. We believed that was just a first wave attack to test our system. Heard from my colleagues that we had several attacks in the past, they even blackmail for money!!

In my previous post, I did mention on Vincent. Today is his last day, went out at around 2am to have a supper at a restaurant called Ping Mang. Hm, the food ain’t that fantastic but still, our stomach almost exploded haha.

Oh yeah, let’s talk more about the interview on the maid. I was surprised when I opened the door, the one come for interview brought 3 more maids who are her friends and employed by the company. Okay that’s not all, I invited them in and sat down at dining table, they started off by talking about ALLOWANCE. I’m shocked but I’m cool with it. She wanted 3000Peso/mth which is S$100/mth. Bring up more people won’t gives me any threat and after all the negotiations, I only manage to cut to 2500Peso L and this amount I pay is more than what my colleagues paid they maid. Okay nvm, next is going to monitor her performance.

Manila Day 3

Went to ate lunch with my boss and colleague at a restaurant besides the condo I stayed. Amazingly the food are very nice, the cooking are so Chinese J After lunch, called the driver to fetch us go work. As usual, went to my desk and observe what my colleagues are doing and try to learn from it. Got to know more on Vincent, another engineer. Before I come to Manila, I was told that his snoring is GOD-LIKE, no one was able to sleep in the same room with him. Today he sat beside me and doing his work, even he’s awake, snoring sound still comes out from him!! But he’s a nice guy J

Finally get to learn more about Network Monitoring. I’m surprised they’re using around 6 monitoring tools!! That’s a lot, meaning I can learn a lot too haha J

Found out that besides Greenbelt(4towers), Glorietta(4towers), there are actually 2 more shopping centres around there, they are SM and Parksquare!! Gosh so many of them. Went to Parksquare to get the 4-gang power bar and some plug converter. That place is like Sim Lim Square, electronics, laptops, computer accessories can get it from there.

Most importantly, their Taxi fare starts at 30Peso (~S$1) how cheap J Got to interview a maid tomorrow. Got to go sleep now, night all..

Manila Day 2

First day of work..Learnt quite alot of things but more to come in the upcoming days. Went to Glorietta, another BIG shopping centre besides Greenbelt, to get my running shoes so i can go GYM!! Heard that there's a bombing in Glorietta LAST MONTH!! >.<>

No time to write more on Glorietta and Greenbelt but i'll try to get it up asap.

Manila Day 1

The day has come...going to leave Singapore for Manila, feeling quite excited over it. Went to had my lunch @ Fei Cui..guess i gonna miss the food here..after taking all the photos with my family, friends and those who came to send me off..i stepped in the departure hall. Heard from my brother, my mum cried after i left :( and

I thought i'm early but NO!! i've got like 10mins to rush to the plane, and the plane is at FAR FAR END!! Gosh! Hope i have a speedy boots at the point of time.

Reached the condo i'll be staying, it's called West-Ayala, er..i don't consider this as a condo cos the design is really like those hotels in Genting >.< Guess what, i'm staying ALONE!! so quiet, no used to it yet haix..

Okay folks, next post i shall talk more about Greenbelt, a shopping centre as big as Suntec.
